Financial Assistance

If you are struggling to make ends meet, Metro Catholic Outreach (MCO) may be able to help you pay rent or utility bills (electric, gas, and water) to avoid eviction or disconnects.

Group of People Holding a Grant CheckMCO financial assistance is made available to you through donations from our 11 church parishes and other donors. You can receive assistance for the current month and past due amounts. Payments go directly to your landlord or utility company. We can’t help you with advance payments for future months.

Requirements:

  • You must live in the Cedar Rapids metro area.
  • You may be eligible to received MCO assistance once every 365 days.
  • You can get help a maximum of three times.
  • We do not assist with apartment deposits.

As a result, there is now a centralized intake point for those in need of help. This process allows resources to be used as efficiently as possible, which creates less stress for those searching for services. Those interested in the rent utility program can call 319-366-7999 to see if they qualify. They will return your call and assist you in accessing programs that may be able to assist.
